Brush Strokes

The objective of this project was to create a piece that could be stackable with other pieces in the collection. We were given certain parameters regarding the female and male parts of the piece, so each piece could be linked together.

Since the beginning of the design process for the mold  knew I wanted to create a symmetric shape that afforded to be decorated differently on the outside.

In terms of the decoration I painted different patterns, from lines to broad, free brush strokes and varying shades of blue. As you go around each of the pieces you’ll be able to discover different quotes in Spanish, English and Italian that relate to my life or my design process in general, written in black with my own handwriting.

My favorite piece is the bent one, instead of seeing its casting as failure it help us realize that sometimes we need to take a pause before we break.
